Ready, Set, Go with Solar

From Plug In America's May Newsletter:

At Southern California's recent Long Beach Solar Grand Prix, junior high and high school students took full advantage of the sun and raced miniature solar-power cars that they had ingeniously designed and built. Plug In America displayed some real solar-powered cars: two Teslas, one Ford Ranger, a Chevy Volt and a Honda conversion. Each of these EVs "run on the sun" with electricity generated by their owners' residential rooftop solar arrays. Our good friend Bob Siebert's Honda conversion drew real-time photovotaic power from a portable solar array as the students' raced to the finish line.

2011 Solar Grand Prix

Here is a report from LBPost about the event. I'll post pictures when I can. I was busy working behind the scenes this year so I didn't get many myself.

2010 Solar Grand Prix

This year's event was more of an educational one that allowed Long Beach students to design and race SOLAR cars.
